Chapters 79-Epilogue Summary

In chapter seventy-nine, Akiva focuses on the bruises all over Karou's body. Liraz is besides herself with grief and goads The White Wolf into attacking. The White Wolf, however, is actually Ziri now, who has become disguised in order to help Karou.

In chapter eighty, when Thiago's soldiers returned to the pit, Karou made no effort to run. Ziri approached her earlier to find out what she had done. Karou makes it clear that they will force her to bring Thiago back in any case, and Ziri takes his own life so that he can inhabit Thiago's corpse. Issa knows the truth, but they are keeping the secret from everyone else. She has gotten the souls of Amzallag and the other sphinxes out of the pit and plans to resurrect them soon. Ten has been replaced by Haxaya already.
