Chapters 1-6 Summary

In chapter one, it is night time in Prague as Zuzana and Mik watch Kaz talking to a news crew about his recently vanished ex-girlfriend, Karou. According to Kaz, Karou flew away after fighting the angels that attacked her near a bridge. Zuzana is frustrated with Kaz and already dislikes him due to his self-centered nature, so she fills a water balloon with perfume and baking soda, climbs the stairs up the house in front of which the news crew is conducting the interview, and drops the balloon on Kaz's head.

In chapter two, Akiva prepares to enter a portal above Uzbekistan. He worries about Karou and blames himself for the death of her family. He enters the portal and goes back to his world of Eretz, and begins searching for Karou.

In chapter three, Zuzana sends an email to Karou...
