Summary

In Chapter 22, it is the day of the trip to Bonnet Park, but several things go wrong from the very beginning. First of all, Mamie cannot make it because she is not feeling well enough to go. Then Lenore comes and tries to keep the residents from leaving. However, she cannot stop them. Both Manfred and Olivia think that they need to find out more about the opening of this hotel. Then Olivia refuses to ride with Barry. They decide to stop at Cracker Barrel for lunch and Manfred realizes that Olivia is upset in general. When they get in the car Manfred finds out from Barry that she did not want to ride with him because she did not want him to be able to read her mind. Then they talk about his ability and what happened to him in the past...
