Thérèse has heard Léonie wait outside her door and then descend the stairs. Later she hears Baptiste arrive home. Thérèse thinks about how Baptiste supposedly despised her after she spied on the couple making love. Thérèse believes that Léonie made sure that Thérèse was a witness.
