Chapters 11-13 Summary

Chapter 11. On the day of Red's wedding, he takes Sorcha to a small cove where some seals have come to lay in the sunlight. For most of the morning Sorcha plays on the beach, running and laughing. Sorcha sees a bird in the sky that calls to her. Sorcha realizes it is Conor. Sorcha tells him where he can find her come midsummer.

Red talks to Sorcha about his brother, asking her questions he has never asked before. Red then tells Sorcha that he has learned of a man who fits his brother's description who has shown up at a monastery in the west of Ireland. Red has also been told by his uncle that Simon is dead. Red says he must go to Ireland to find out the truth, but it means leaving Sorcha behind. To protect Sorcha, Red suggests...
