Advantages and Dangers of Technology
Technology has changed the lives of every person on the planet, though some may argue that not every single technological advance has been a positive change. In this novel, the characters deal with many pieces of technology. Some are good; some are dangerous; some are only dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands.
Ana Dakkar discovers that she is a direct descendant of Captain Nemo, who was a real person and a genius inventor. Ana and her brother Dev are among the students who attend the Harding-Pencroft Academy, a school that grooms students for role in marine-related fields. Ana and her fellow freshmen are off campus when the attack occurs, meaning they believe they are the school's only survivors. Dr. Hewett is the teacher with them that day.
