Summary

In Chapter 41, they see a view of the damage to the Lincoln Base. On the opposite side of the island, they see the Aronnax. Ana fights the desire to try to save those left on the island, realizing they cannot let LI get the Nautilus. When they dive, “green goo” is flushed out of all the ducts and crevices. The engines shut down. They begin to discuss options and Ana asks if they have any “shieldy things.” They are interrupted by Caleb's voice, demanding they surrender. Ana does not respond. Caleb suggests she should heed his captain. Ana is shocked when Dev says she needs to give up.

In Chapter 42, Ana fights her relief that Dev is alive and her horror that he is a traitor. After a short time, he threatens to fire on them unless they surrender. Ana wonders how they...
