Summary

In Chapter 35, Ana takes the other students onto the Nautilus, a few at a time. None of the others comment on the fact that Ana talks to Nautilus, telling the submarine what is happening. That afternoon, the entire group helps clean, carrying out the moldy and rotted items. Ana gently chastises Nelinha for sniping at Gem. Later, Ana makes an opportunity to talk with Gem. Ana had always thought his real name was James and he got the nickname Gemini because he carries twin pistols. Gem says his parents were hippies who chose the name Gemini Twain then left him behind for a grandparent to raise. Gem says he has very few personal connections and cherishes each.
