Chapter 41 finds Karou waiting for Akiva in Marrakesh. She has been there two days and nights. Karou wondered how long she would wait but her body was telling her that she wanted Akiva. She bought fingerless gloves so that her tattoos would be covered and she could touch him without causing pain. But when Akiva arrives, he is solemn and cold.

He gives her back the wishbone, asks if she still wants to know who she is and says they need to go somewhere more private to break the wishbone. Akiva assures her that Brimstone was holding it for her and, although bracing himself to be hated by her, Akiva falls into an embrace with Karou.
