In chapter 6, Karou leaves Brimstone's shop and the door opens to Paris, a magic that's allowed her to visit many places. Karou goes to the black market in Paris to buy illegal elephant tusks. As she draggs the heavy tusks through the Paris metro system, she thinks about when she got shot and asked Brimstone if he cared about her, although she didn't want the answer because he and the others are her only family.

She thinks about how she's no longer innocent because her hands are dirty with the blood of illegal trade and animal deaths. When she gets to Brimstone's door with the tusks, she notices a black handprint burned into it.
