Summary

Chapter 30 opens from Clearsight's perspective and drops back a short time to the moment she takes the scroll and leaves. She has little chance of deceiving Darkstalker except that she reads the futures better than he. She takes advantage when Darkstalker is distracted. Clearsight encounters Listener. She reminds Listener that she never wanted to know the future unless she and her family were in danger. Clearsight knows her plan to stop Darkstalker might fail and that no one can will be able to stop Darkstalker then. She asks Listener to gather her family and Clearsight's parents, and to leave the kingdom. Listener asks about the queen and Clearsight says Listener should warn her to run, but only if she can do so safely. The friends share a heartfelt good-bye and Clearsight rushes to Fathom's room.
