Summary

The novel opens with a map of Pyrrhia followed by brief descriptions of each of the seven tribes of dragons that inhabit Pyrrhia. The three tribes most important to this novel are the IceWings, SeaWings, and NightWings. NightWings have dark scales and can breathe fire. Some can read minds or predict the future. Darkstalker has both. Clearsight is the most powerful seer at this time. There are no known animus NightWings until Darkstalker reveals his power. The kingdom is ruled by Queen Vigilance. SeaWings are blue or green with webbed claws and gills for swimming. They can breathe underwater and see in the dark. They are ruled by Queen Lagoon until their oldest animus, Albatross, goes mad and kills most of the royal family. Queen Pearl takes the throne next. The only remaining SeaWing animus is Pearl's brother Fathom. The frost-breathing IceWings...
