Point of View

Darkness of Dragons is written in third-person from the limited perspective of Qibli, a young SandWing dragon. The reader has access to Qibli's thoughts and feelings. He is extremely intelligent and observant, which makes the perspective less limited. For example, Qibli has learned how his grandfather, Vulture, thinks. When Qibli learns that Vulture is supporting Onyx's bid for the SandWing throne, Qibli knows that Vulture will be planning to control Onyx from behind the scenes. When Vulture learns that Darkstalker has named himself king of the NightWings, Qibli knows Vulture will be thinking that he could be king of the SandWings. Though Vulture does not voice these thoughts, the reader knows this because Qibli thinks through the process.

Qibli seeks to be honest, but his ability to evaluate himself is limited by his lack of self-confidence. He sees himself as insignificant and lacking in power...
