Chapter 17 Summary

Suze calls the police to tell them that Father D was knocked on the head because he caught looters in the church. Suze tries to get Jack to talk about Paul, but Jack says he doesn't want to talk about. Suze knows now that Paul was in cahoots with Maria and Diego. They drop Jack off in a cab and then Jesse and Suze walk the two miles from the hotel to her house.

When Suze gets home, nobody even notices she snuck out. Spike is very excited to see Jesse. Suze sleeps for the next two days. Her mom wants to take her to the hospital, but she assures her she's just tired, and they have to drive to camp to pick up Doc. At the breakfast table, Sleepy tells her not to worry about her job, that he smoothed everything over...
