Summary

Chapter 38 takes place in 1985. Diondra finished killing Michelle, just as the mystery assailant finished off Patty and Debby in the other room. Diondra thought it was a sign from Satan that their ritual worked. The man ran off, apparently unaware that there were others in the house.

Diondra tried to track down Libby, insisting that Ben should kill her too so they could collect any insurance money from the rest of the family dying. She said everyone would forget about Krissi because Ben would now be a victim. She insisted that this was the way they could finally start their life over, but Ben had to pretend not to know her, otherwise she’d get arrested and they’d take the child away. Ben was hesitant, but eventually decided that this was what a man had to do. He tried to find Libby...
