Summary

In Chapter 7, Leighton visits Jason in his cell. He apologizes for what has happened. Leighton does not answer when Jason asks if Leighton had told the man who came after him to shoot Daniela. Jason takes his refusal to answer as a yes. Jason imagines himself killing Leighton.

Jason pretends to calm down. He asks for Leighton. When Leighton comes, Jason is let out of his restraints. Based on what he has already experienced, Jason knows he needs to be the man Leighton believes that he is or that he will never be allowed to live. He tells Leighton he ran because he was scared. He is scared, he says, because he does not remember anything about the past ten years. When Leighton suggests that the real Jason is locked away in his head, Jason again questions his beliefs about himself.
