Summary

In Chapter 2, Jason becomes aware of people in biohazard suits loading him onto a gurney. He hears someone ask how Jason got out of the box. In an operating room, a man welcomes Jason back and tells him: “Congratulations. You did it” (32). Jason wonders what he did and tells himself that whatever he is experiencing is not real. The man tells Jason his name is Leighton Vance and says he is the chief executive and medical officer of Velocity Laboratories. Jason is decontaminated and then taken to a room to get dressed. Jason tries to tell the man he does not know what is happening but Leighton leaves without acknowledging Jason’s concerns.

Alone, Jason tries to piece together the last things he remembers. He struggles to bring to mind his night with his family but cannot remember why he left them. He thinks...
