Chapters 9-10 Summary

Khabarakh arrives and reluctantly agrees to allow Chewie and Threepio to accompany Leia, for Noghris share the Wookiees' honor code. During the four-day voyage, Khabarakh keeps to himself and appears to have decided unilaterally to take Leia to his home planet. Chewie investigates the ship's systems and Threepio laments not numbering Noghri among his six million languages. Approaching Honoghr, Leia is shocked at its desolation, for which she knows the Rebel Alliance is as responsible as the Empire. When Chimaera looms on the horizon, Chewie senses betrayal and attacks Khabarakh, who tries to talk him down before stunning him. Leia believes that Khabarakh will defend her to his death and falls silent while he transmits a recognition signal and explains he has suffered computer troubles.
