Summary
Rather than celebrate Sizdeh Bedar, the Kellners and Bahramis take all the food they prepared for the holiday over to Sohrab’s house. Darius and Stephen decide not to join them and walk around Yazd instead. Stephen admits that he wants to spend more time with Darius, and Darius feels grateful that his father fought so hard to stay with them even when his depression was at its worst. That night, Mamou cooks Darius a special birthday dinner and gifts him an antique teapot along with new soccer cleats. When Darius embraces his grandparents to thank them for the presents, Babou surprises Darius by kissing him on the cheek. He assures Darius that Sohrab will apologize once he has processed his grief.
