The Virgin's Pool
The Virgin's Pool is the primary setting for the story "Our Lady of the Quarry." One summer, Silvia and Diego suggest spending time at this particular quarry, because it is the best and the cleanest in the area. The new couple and the group of young girls, spend days lying near the pool and swimming in it. Then one day, Silvia and Diego suggest that they swim across the quarry to the Virgin's grotto on the opposite side. When Natalia discovers that Silvia and Diego are playing a trick, she gets angry, runs to the grotto alone, converses with the statue, and has her unleash a group of wild dogs on Silvia and Diego.
