Damnation Grove

Damnation Grove is the track of land that Sanderson logging company is harvesting for timber. The forest is comprised of old growth trees that fetch a high price on the lumber market. After the discovery of multiple children’s skulls in Damnation Grove, Sanderson’s operation is shut down for a formal investigation. At the end of the novel, Merle sells off Damnation Gove to the national parks service; while his actions preserve the forest from clearcutting, they also ensure that the loggers who works for him do not have a means of income.
