Summary
In Chapter 2, Lola returned home to her apartment with Boots. Their space was “covered with shelves of glassware,” all made by Boots (47).
Boots was in bed. He asked Lola about her dinner. Feeling “suddenly very drunk,” Lola slipped into bed next to him and traced “the terrain of his skin” (49). She did not mention Amos. Boots announced his plans to “go to San Francisco for a couple weeks” for work (49). After he fell asleep, Lola wondered about their relationship, comparing her worries and Boots’s concerns.
The next morning, Lola’s “college friend, Eliza” texted her about getting dinner (52). Eliza insisted on going to the same restaurant Lola had been the night before.
