Lawrence Waterhouse is at a meeting, which includes Lieutenant Colonel Earl Comstock of the Electrical Till Corporation. They discuss the Japanese crypt systems called Azure and Arethusa. They know there is something going on with gold in the Philippines. They haven't yet broken the codes, but they have used HuffDuff to locate some of the transmitters. Waterhouse has been monitoring radio transmissions and performing statistical analysis on the machine he designed. He explains how the machine works.
