Summary

Part Three: "Brick by Brick" starts with Chapter 11: "Inej" as she and Kaz hide in the warehouse district. Inej reveals she promised Van Eck that she will only see him one more time as she plans to kill him. When Kaz asks if she was hurt, she lies, as she does not want to admit that Van Eck made her doubt Kaz.

That night, the two return to the Black Veil, relieved to find the others alive. They relay what happened with the Shu, and Kuwei calls them Khergund. He explains early parem tests were conducted on Fabricators who were forced to make the super soldiers before their addiction killed them. Kaz reveals that the Council of Tides pulled back the sea to dry dock the Shu boats. As the group argues over what to do, Kaz says they need the...
