Chapters 11 - 21 Summary
While his mother is away at church, Robert inspects the Skoda and changes one tire that is low on pressure for the spare. After church, Robert tries his hand at chopping wood and is watched by Coleman Dooley, the son of the landlord. Coleman explains the axe is dull so he takes Robert up to his grandfather's house to get the axe sharpened. After, Grandma Dooley tells Robert about the original owners of the house he has just rented. They had a daughter with some peculiar, but unknown, developmental issue. The daughter lived in the house for sixteen years but never was seen by anyone. However, the daughter always shrieked and moaned, sounding something like a cat, and most of the neighbors heard the eerie sounds all the time.
