Summary
In Chapter 13, Eleanor’s husband, Philip, is fishing from his backyard dock in Sydney, Australia, when his wife calls, shouting maniacally about Nick’s supposedly Taiwanese girlfriend. Philip tries to calm his hysterical wife, all the while thinking about how glad he is to spend most of the year in Australia rather than in Asia. Eleanor shamelessly declares that she hired a private investigator to find out more about Rachel Chu. Realizing that this will not be a pleasant conversation, Philip tries to make excuses to hang up the phone, but Eleanor continues anyway. She exclaims that despite the rumors, Rachel Chu is not actually part of the Taipei Plastics family.
