Summary
Chapter 4 shifts to Nick’s perspective. He and Rachel are still in New York and are talking about their trip. He is a little unnerved because ever since he invited Rachel on the trip to Singapore, she has been bombarding him with questions about his family. He realizes that Rachel is overthinking the trip just like his cousin Astrid told him would happen. He flashes back to his phone conversation with Astrid, when he told her he was bringing Rachel home for the summer. Astrid warns him that Rachel will think the trip is a big step in their relationship. Nick is flippant and says it is just a simple vacation with his girlfriend. Astrid knows that deep down, Nick knows the trip is much more meaningful than that. She pushes Nick to give Rachel a heads up about his home life...
