Section 6: ch. 15-16 Summary
In chapter fifteen, "Like God's Own Chocolate, I'd Lick Her Shadow Off a Hot Sidewalk", in Santa Barbara, Sam is excited for his evening with Calliope, despite everything else. Sam goes to her apartment and meets Yiffer, Nina's man. Calliope ruins the spaghetti. When a baby cries, Calliope leaves the room to calm her son, Grubb. Sam follows and meets Grubb, Nina, and Nina and Yiffer's son, J. Nigel Yiffworth, Esquire. Nina and Yiffer leave the apartment, and Sam and Calliope change the babies' diapers. As they engage in intercourse, someone slams the doors in the apartment below them, and Calliope tells Sam to ignore them. Sam finishes quickly and without pleasure. Calliope argues with Grubb's father who lives downstairs and threatens to get custody of Grubb. Sam offers to leave, but Calliope objects.
