A Place to Call Home/Motif
People identify "home" in different ways. Some may refer to the city or town where they spent their childhood as home. Others may think of home as a physical house shared with family and friends. Whether a mapped location or a specific structure identifies the concept of "home," the word usually evokes an image of a place where one is welcome and feels close to loved ones. The majority of characters in this novel have recently been forced to relocate, ideally to a place where they have a sense of belonging. Some are just beginning to settle into new homes, most because it is where they are near their loved ones. The concept of "home" serves as a motif in Court of Frost and Starlight, touching the life of each character differently.
