Summary
Chapter 20 is from Feyre's view. Feyre invites Nesta inside and she seems to hesitate for a moment. Elain smiles “broadly,” clearly happy to see Nesta, and Nesta enters. Nesta watches Cassian (they share a mating bond but Nesta has refused to acknowledge it). Cassian seems to be trying to appear casual. Amren makes a rude comment about the weight Nesta has lost. Everyone is worried but Nesta smiles and compliments Amren's earrings. They continue to open gifts. Nesta thanks Elain for a set of books. Feyre hands out her gifts, including paintings for Azriel, Cassian, and Mor. The painting she gives Rhysand is a portrait of “the creature inside myself, the creature full of hate and regret and love and sacrifice, the creature that could be cruel and brave, sorrowful and joyous” (185).
