McInerney is meeting with Congressman D. Franco at the Willard Hotel and notices Charley Galloway at another table with two attractive blonds, one of whom is a movie star. The other is Aunt Caroline. When McInerney finishes with the Congressman, he stops by Galloway's table and is introduced to the women. McInerney learns from the desk clerk that they are all part of the group with Jake Dillon. McInerney calls Jake Dillon down to the bar for a drink. He has Galloway assigned to Jake Dillon for his public relations work.
The Marine Commandant, General Thomas Holcomb's returns to his Washington, D.C., home and finds he has a briefing on the Coral Sea situation. McInerney is also there.
