Koffler is in love with Dianne and figures if he goes through with the parachuting ceremony, he will receive leave and be able to see her. He did his sixth jump on February 14 with the journalists present. On the eighth jump, Neville boarded the plane with his parachute. As Neville is standing in the door preparing to jump, Koffler can see a smaller plane in which there is a man with a camera. Neville is posing for them. They began their humps. Neville and his chute are caught on the small plane and Neville falls to the ground. Koffler's picture is taken as he looks at Neville's body.
