Summary

“Eddie’s apartment. Boxes inside. Snow outside. Later that night. Something feels different” (78).

Eddie comes in, looking through boxes and talking to someone outside. After a moment, Jess comes in, dressed as she was in the previous scene but with a coat, sweatpants, and boots. She stays by the door, ready to hurry out, as Eddie keeps searching the boxes.

Conversation reveals that Eddie has said that his wife is out of the apartment a lot, and that they are separating. Conversation also reveals that he discovered Jess sleeping in her car, and invited her into the apartment while he looked for a blanket – which he finds. Stage directions reveal it is Ani’s. He asks for Jess to bring it back the next day, as it has sentimental value. Jess starts to leave, but then hesitates – it is still warmer...
