Stopping the biological clock — Another immortalist in contact with Wilson is Dr. Paul Segall. Segall is researching approaching to human immortality such as freezing the human body, transplanting many organs and other approaches. Segall becomes a follower of Timothy Leary and researches topics such as using cybernetics to program a human into a computer. Segall is working on a chemical he has found in the body called tryptophan, and thinks that life can be extended by depriving the body of this chemical. Statistically, Segall has examined how scientific progress solved problems like flying in airplanes that were thought to be impossible. Maybe the next breakthrough is a huge jump in human lifespan.
