The Lady of Guadeloupe — Wilson quits his job at Playboy Magazine and goes to San Miguel de Allende on assignment to write two books. Wilson learns about Father Hidalgo, a fighter for Mexican independence, who had his own connections to symbols of the Illuminati. Wilson compares the local saint, the Virgin of Guadeloupe to the Space Lady of the stars. Likewise, Jacques Vallee finds similarity between sightings of the Virgin and of space aliens. At the time, Wilson has a strong connection to the Egyptian goddess Nuit.
Wilson hears that Timothy Leary escapes prison and ends up first in Algiers under the Black Panthers, and later in Switzerland.
