Summary

In Chapter 15 Rita goes to visit Nabil in San Diego and finds he is living only a few blocks from the beach in a nice 1920s craftsman home with his new boyfriend. Rita has moved back into her childhood home and is helping to take care of her niece and nephew. She picks them up every day after school and gives them rewards like sundaes and movies. Rita makes dinner for her parents every night. She still, however, believes that the death of her sister is somehow her fault and connected to Iraq, although a minister tells her that this is not the case. B.D. Zajac was sentenced to three life terms in state prison and said during his sentencing that he did not believe there could be Christian Arabs. Rita decides to start speaking at national gun violence events.
