The love of the Marine Corps is what drove Colonel Thomas C. Wesley and General Lesterby to try to prove Colonel Evans Carlson a communist, crazy or both, and thus ending both of their military careers. They believed so strongly that the time Carlson spent in China with the Communist Route Army had brainwashed him that they set in motion a plan to discredit him.
