Summary
Coraline’s real mother wakes her up asking how she came to fall asleep in the drawing room and where the cat had come from. In her room, Coraline removes the three marbles, empty snow globe and iron key from her pocket. She hangs the key on a string around her neck. She goes into her father’s study and hugs him from behind. He picks her up and carries her into the kitchen for dinner. She eats the pizza he’s made even though it isn’t the best.
That night, she dreams she is at a picnic with the three children whose souls she rescued. The children thank her and she tells them she’s glad it’s finished. The expressions on the children’s faces show Coraline that her job is not done yet. They indicate that while they are safe...
