Point of View

This novel is told from the first-person point of view of Anna, who is also the main character of the novel. Anna writes her novel directly to her reader and often references him as she writes. For instance: “I can’t avoid this any more. I have to explain who I am, where I came from, why I ran. A long-held silence is hard to break. You may have to strain to hear” (173-174).
