Summary
Chapter 8 is told from Geneva’s perspective. Geneva arrives at the Murphy house to a note from Selena explaining the family had to leave early and Geneva should pick up the boys at the usual time. Geneva cleans up the kitchen and notices blood. Later, after Geneva has picked up the boys, Geneva thinks about a conversation with her sister and how she wants her sister’s “approval so badly” (81). Geneva hears the garage door open and fears it is Graham, but Selena enters. Selena explains that Graham will be away for the weekend with Uncle Joe. Geneva leaves and sees someone coming toward her and recognizes the person, but feels “the shock of surprise and dread” (87).
