Work Ethic and Extravagance
Paris Hilton is intriguing to the public in that she is a symbol of the "idle rich." She has never had to experience the real world of "work," with its accompanying worries about money, time, and paying bills. The experience of always getting what you want and never having to wait for anything is foreign to most people.
It is possible (although rare) for a person to be raised in a bubble that is almost completely separate from the workings of the "real" world. Paris' extravagant lifestyle takes place in a world where thousand dollar shopping sprees and flying around the world on Lear Jets are commonplace. We see a good example of this in Chapter 4, where Paris writes that she had to have five 21st birthday parties (all over the globe) just to accommodate all of her friends.
