Summary
Chapter 2 is titled “Owen.” Owen is amazed that Auburn is here. Since he expected they would never meet, he has not thought about her often. They never talked, which is why Owen is not surprised that Auburn does not recognize him. He had once tried to paint her, but he could not recall enough details. He thinks he might try it again now. He stares as she looks at the paintings. He thinks about Hannah. When she told him her name was the same spelled forward and backward, he said that is a palindrome. She was confused, “and that's when I knew I could never love her” (30).
