Summary

In Chapter 15, three weeks have passed. Maverick has realized for the first time that Ant had friends and family, just like Dre, who held a memorial service. Maverick's feelings are confused. He considers that “This could be Dre's way of keeping dude's blood off my hands” (173). Maverick is trying to live the life Dre imagined for him. Maverick is relieved that Seven is starting to sleep longer at night. Maverick has begun setting priorities. They no longer have cable. Maverick pawned his video game system to buy clothes and his stereo to buy a playpen. He has begun to feel his time, energy, and money all go to Seven. Lisa arrives one day and helps Maverick put Seven down for a nap. Lisa says she might be pregnant.

In Chapter 16, Maverick's first question is whether the baby is his which makes Lisa furious...
