Summary
In Chapter 7, Lisa blocks Maverick's calls and he feels extremely sad. He talks to Iesha a couple of times but she always says she needs more time without saying how much. Maverick discovers the many expenses associated with having a baby, especially difficult because he is not selling drugs. Faye gets an extension on the light bill to buy a changing table and talks about picking up weekend shifts. Dre sometimes watches the baby so Maverick can nap, and he buys the clothes Maverick cannot afford. The day before school starts, the baby keeps Maverick awake. At one point, Maverick is so frustrated he walks outside and cries. Faye assures him that parents do not always have all the answers. She helps get the baby settled and Maverick is able to sleep.
