Letters 15-21 Summary

Mr. _____ is gone three days since Shug is in for the weekend. Celie is out in the field chopping wood after Mr. _____ comes home. He steps out for a second to help, but then goes back inside. Celie wants to ask him questions about Shug, but he tells Celie to go back to chopping.

Mr. _____ spends all of his days on the porch staring at nothing. Harpo begins complaining about the work that he now has to do, since he has to take his father's place in the fields with Celie. Mr. ____ says he doesn't have to work anymore since Harpo is there. Harpo is hurt by his father's statement, but he tells Celie that he is still in love.

The father of the girl Harpo is in love with tells Harpo that he is not good enough for his daughter...
