The After-School Program
Tsukuru was one of a group of volunteers who participated in this program. This was where Tsukuru became close friends with Ao, Aka, Shiro, and Kuro. The program offered tutoring and activities for children and the group helped as volunteers as a class requirement.
The College Pool
This was where Tsukuru swam several times a week during his recovery after being ostracized from the group. This was where he met Fumiaki Haida and where they became friends.

Tsukuru discovered the piece again when Haida provides a record of it during an evening at Tsukuru's house. It comes to represent Tsukuru's teenage years and the friendships he lost.
