Summary
In Chapter 12, Tsukuru arrives at his apartment in Tokyo that evening. He calls Sara but doesn't get an answer. She calls the next day at lunchtime. She agrees to meet him for dinner a few days later. Tsukuru has an uneasy feeling after their conversation but can't decide why he feels that way.
The next day, Tsukuru and a new employee named Sakamoto are working in a train station. During a break in their work, the station manager tells stories about his years of work, including some of the strange things that have been found on trains and in stations. He says someone at another station gave that manager two very small fingers preserved in a jar of formaldahyde.
