Sequence One Summary
These three poems make up a sequence that is tied together by the image of dancing.
In Poem Two, as the song "Dancing in the Streets" plays in the background, the ladies dance, and the Lady in Yellow steps forward. She tells a story from her graduation night. She and some friends went dancing and partying. They had a lot to drink, danced, got sexy with each other, and suddenly felt "finally grown." She tells how one boy in particular whispered she should go with him. They went through the parking lot and made love in the back of his Buick. She says that the next morning she couldn't stop smiling. The other ladies comment on their sexual experiences. The lady in blue talks about Latin dances, which leads us into the next poem.
