Summary
China is the most populous country in the world with an estimated population of 1.3 billion people. It is rich in plant diversity and its size is the third largest in the world. The economy is growing at nearly ten percent per year. It is also one of the most productive nations. However, it has some of the worst environmental problems facing it for a major country. Air pollution, grassland degradation, salinization, soil erosion, water pollution and trash accumulation are but a few of the environmental issues before them. Despite their roaring economy, these environmental concerns are impacting the economy and societal at large. These issues are also causing serious health problems.
