Chapters 29-32 Summary

Chapter 29. Toot tackles and recaptures Captain Hook. Hook invokes Winter Law, which means he won't try to escape, but in exchange must not be interrogated or mistreated. Dresden verbally rejects the notion of Winter Law and abruptly the mantle of the Winter Knight leaves him. This causes him to feel all his mortal woundings acutely and collapse. Within a few seconds it is restored, and he realizes he cannot challenge the order of things. He asks Toot about Winter Law, and learns its parameters. Dresden demands Hook's informal name, and learns it is Lacuna. Lacuna removes his helmet, and they see that Lacuna is a beautiful female faerie. Dresden demands information about her boss, but she tells him nothing useful. The group goes off to their assigned tasks, with Molly left at the apartment to receive calls. When they are gone...
